2014 Adult Excellence Award

Hindered by the responsibilities of working full-time jobs and providing for their families, many older Americans could attain their educational goals if only given a financial boost.

For adult students pursuing an education at a career college, the Imagine America Foundation offers such a boost. This year, the Foundation offered cash grants to 34 students through its Adult Excellence Award. The number of cash grants represents 78 percent growth for the program from the previous year.

The Adult Excellence Award is essentially a continuation of the Foundation’s Adult Skills Education Program. The program was designed to assist non-traditional students by awarding them a $1,000 tuition grant to attend an Imagine America participating ASEP school of their choice.

Each Adult Excellence Award provides a $500 cash grant toward the student’s tuition balance. Since 2011 when the program was founded, more than 127 students have received grants.

The Adult Excellence Awards are funded through contributions made by our sponsor Ambassador Education Solutions and other contributors to the 21st Century Workforce Fund.

“With the additional challenges many adult students already face - chiefly working full time and providing for a family - the Foundation's support helps ease their financial burden,” said Robert L. Martin, President & CEO of the Imagine America Foundation. “The more these students can concentrate on their studies and not the additional pressures, the more likely they are to attain their goals. ”

Ambassador Education Solutions is a longtime supporter of the Foundation and career education. Since 1973, Ambassador has provided leading-edge technologies and software for the optimized delivery of student course materials. The company serves proprietary and career colleges, as well as traditional public and private institutions, offering both online and/or on-ground programs.
