Court reporting became a growing field after World War II. There was a great demand for qualified court reporters, and their availability was limited. Career schools were encouraged to establish programs of study in court reporting and to assist in the development of professional standards in the field. Many existing schools added court reporting, and many new schools opened their doors with courses in court reporting.
